Meet the President

Shirley Eileen Fitzgerald, RN is President of Med-Legal Consulting, Inc. which offers independent consulting services to attorneys throughout the United States on a variety of cases involving medical records and patient care issues since 1989. Prior to completing her R.N. curriculum, Ms. Fitzgerald worked as a medical records clerk. Ms. Fitzgerald's nursing background is diversified including experience in Intensive Care, Trauma, Medical-Surgical, Mother-Baby, Cardiac, Pediatric, Emergency, Diabetic, MR/DD, Home and Convalescent Care. She served as the Vice-President of the Greater Portland Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Ms. Fitzgerald is also a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants and an associate member of Oregon Women Lawyers.

Ms. Fitzgerald has many litigation success stories to her credit. Her work including chronologies of care, graphic quantification of pain and translation of emergency records has assisted attorneys in numerous out of court personal injury settlements and which resulted in substantially increased awards. While wrongful death and medical negligence cases make up the majority of her present caseload, Ms. Fitzgerald has also used medical records to assist attorneys in successful challenges of criminal charges, disputed custody,and class action/product liability cases.
